Kairos USA: Diverse Christian group releases major statement on Israel-Palestine crisis
When the "60 Minutes" audience saw the recent segment on the decline of Christianity in the Holy Land, they also saw how hard Israel works to suppress Palestinian voices.
Today, a diverse group of U.S. Christians launch their effort to amplify these voices with the introduction of Kairos USA.
The movement is launching via electronic media a major statement declaring their solidarity with their Palestinian counterparts. The statement, "Call to Action: U.S. Response to the Kairos Palestine Document--A word of confession and faith from Christians in the United States," is a response to the Kairos Palestine document featured in the "60 Minutes" segment.
Palestinian Christian clergy, scholars and human rights workers issued their document, "A Moment of Truth: A word of faith, hope and love from the heart of Palestinian suffering," in December 2009 in Bethlehem, West Bank.
With this launch, Kairos USA joins a growing number of national Kairos movements and campaigns around the world. Kairos USA's goal is to unify and mobilize American Christians-lay, academic and clergy-to take a prophetic stance in the urgent situation in Israel-Palestine today.
