What is a PeaceLeader? Can I set up a recurring donation?

We call our supporters who make recurring donations PeaceLeaders because they lead the way for PPF's future. Making a regular automatic online donation means lower overhead costs for us for processing your gift so that even more can go directly to our work. It's easy for you - just set it up and let it runs on it's own without having to think about it. And it helps us plan for what we're able to do when we know we can count on your recurring donation every month. Anyone who sets up a recurring donation is a PeaceLeader.

Operating Budget

PPF's entire budget is approximately $200,000. We are committed never to borrow to meet our needs, to live as simply as possible, and to be totally transparent about the way that every dollar you give is spent. Please help us to build an authentically Christian, nonviolent movement that will transform our church — and through the church — the world.

Why does PPF have an endowment and how can I help?

In 2006, hundreds of PPF supporters launched a Presbyterian Peace Fellowship Endowment Fund to generate funds for nonviolence in perpetuity. Why? Because our generation has already left a legacy of the most dangerous weapons and the most violent era ever in history. As disciples of the Prince of Peace, this cannot be our only legacy.

The PPF Endowment Fund is overseen by a PPF Endowment Fund Committee and invested at the socially-responsible New Covenant Funds of the Presbyterian Foundation. By PPF action, our fund is Fossil-Free and Occupation-Free. Because Climate Change will be the biggest impact on human war and violence ever known, we have elected to not profit any further from the desecration of creation. When we asked about divesting from fossil fuels, our New Covenant Fund investment manager gave us a Sustainability Survey where one of the many options was to divest from the top 200 fossil fuel companies. This was informed by the Carbon Tracker Initiative which creates an annual list of 200 companies with the largest reserves of fossil fuels in the world. This is the same research-informed list that Fossil Free PC(USA) is advocating for. By checking the box on this survey, we were able to divest from the companies that have the greatest influence on current and future violence related to fossil fuel extraction and pollution.

We also refrain from investments with about 20 companies that enable or profit from the illegal military occupation of the Palestinian territory by the nation of Israel. When those companies move away from these activities, we lift our investment restriction. As with all other investments at the New Covenant Funds, we do not invest in weapons, guns, tobacco, gambling and companies with human rights violations.

We are also the most affluent generation in history. What we do with the assets entrusted to us now can impact the future of the world. Through generous pledges, gifts and covenants to remember PPF in planned giving, we now have about $600,000 invested and over 30 covenants to remember PPF in a will or planned gift. So far, gifts have ranged from $1 to $50,000. We believe that these gifts will eventually create a fund of $2 million or more to support the mission of PPF in perpetuity.

In the work for peace, and in the words of the late PPF moderator Clinton Marsh: We are called to “keep on keepin’ on.” We invite you to keep on keepin’ on for peace, now and beyond our lifetimes. Please join with us in creating resources and encouragement for the peacemakers of the future. To them we say: We are with you. Christ is with you. In nonviolence is the future of the world. - J. Barrie Shepherd, Honorary Co-Chair of the PPF Endowment Campaign

Occupation-Free Endowment Fund: Through the gifts of visionary donors, PPF has created a model for investing in companies that do not support, exploit or benefit from the Occupation of Palestine by the nation of Israel. This is part of our witness to transform over six decades of violence and suffering into a just peace for all the people of Israel and Palestine. Read about the Occupation-Free Fund.

Colombia Accompaniment Program

Our partnership with the Presbyterian Church of Colombia is nonviolent direct action at its best. Help us to recruit, train and support Presbyterians like you from the U.S. who raise their own support to volunteer to "see and be seen" in the midst of the violence of Colombia. Our accompaniment is built on Paul's reflection of 2 Corinthians that we will stand clearly for life even in the midst of great affliction. Where are we as people of privilege prepared to take risks because of the faith that we profess as followers of Jesus? Find out more about how you can be a PPF Accompanier!

A note on accepting restricted donations

Sometimes donors approach us with a desire to give to support some particular project that we may not already be involved in. We are grateful for the opportunity to "think outside the box" and ask only that you be in touch with us before making a gift so that we can determine together whether your interest fits our mission and we have the capacity to carry out the proposed work.
