Sadness: The Tent of Nations Destroyed

I am heartbroken and crying tonight. Daoud Nasser and his family at The Tent of Nations Environmental and Educational Farm in the West Bank were invaded by Israel. Entire fields of grapes, apples, apricots, almonds, fig and olive trees were wiped out. Up to 1,500 trees destroyed. Daoud and his family own the land, have papers dating from the Ottoman Empire.

Join the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Boycotting Israeli Settlement Products

At the 2012 General Assembly, the PC(USA) voted by an overwhelming majority to boycott all products manufactured in Israeli settlements located in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. The boycott of these products serves as a nonviolent means through which Presbyterians can work for a peaceful solution to the conflict in Israel-Palestine. Please join the growing number of Presbyterians who have already pledged their support for the PC (U.S.A.) boycott of products manufactured in Israeli settlements by endorsing this pledge.

In a world where more than 45 million people worldwide are uprooted from their homes by persecution and armed conflict, deadly conflicts over natural resources are erupting around the world, and 3,000 children are killed in the US by guns each year, what is the role of the Presbyterian Church in working towards a world where all can flourish in peace and security?

Twenty-eight Presbyterians - artists, musicians, students, church leaders and activists - spent twelve days in January traveling in the Holy Lands and meeting with nonviolent activists from Israel and Palestine. Omar Barghouti, a leader in the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement, called on the Presbyterian Church to divest itself of stock in companies that support or benefit from the Occupation “What we are asking for is hardly heroic,” Barghouti said. “We just want your church to stop investing in our oppression.”
