Presbyterian Delegation Unanimously Supports MRTI Call to Divest from Caterpillar, Motorola Solutions and Hewlett Packard

Twenty-eight Presbyterians - artists, musicians, students, church leaders and activists - spent twelve days in January traveling in the Holy Lands and meeting with nonviolent activists from Israel and Palestine. Omar Barghouti, a leader in the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement, called on the Presbyterian Church to divest itself of stock in companies that support or benefit from the Occupation “What we are asking for is hardly heroic,” Barghouti said. “We just want your church to stop investing in our oppression.”

Week One for Our Delegation in the Holy Land

First Thoughts from our Delegation on the Ground

On January 5, twenty-eight people left Newark on a delegation bound for Israel and Palestine, co-sponsored by Presbyterian Peace Fellowship (PPF) and Interfaith Peace-Builders (IFPB). Many are young adults, many are pastors, and all are peaceseekers. The goal is to give them the opportunity to witness the Middle East first-hand and listen to the people on the ground as they seek to live in peace in this complex part of the world.

Dispatches from the Holy Land

PPF has gathered a group of peaceseekers, mostly young adults, who are serving on a two-week delegation trip to Israel and Palestine this month. This blog allows us to follow their journey daily.

What Is the Occupation-Free Fund?

Occupation-Free Shopping Guide: 6 Companies and 15 Wineries to Boycott

The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanction (BDS) Movement is a nonviolent way for peacemakers everywhere to help end the occupation of Palestinian territory by the nation of Israel. This occupation has been a source of world conflict and inhumane injustice for over six decades. Based on international law and human rights standards, BDS is a response to the epistle from the Palestinian Christian community know as the Kairos Document, in which they pled for their fellow Christians around the world to unite in boycotts, divestment, and sanctions against the occupation.
