Call to People of Faith to Stand Against White Supremacy in Tennessee

We are a collective of women of faith. We include members of Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center in Chattanooga, Tenn., the Harriet Tubman House in Nashville, Food Not Bombs Nashville and others. We invite you to join us in putting your bodies on the line to proclaim that God rejects white supremacy. Stand with us on the weekend of Oct. 27-28 in Tennessee to confront white supremacy with interfaith prayer and song. This is a call for partnership in direct, nonviolent action on a crucial day for our state and in a critical moment for our country. We need your prayerful presence. What we know right now is that white supremacists and Neo-Nazis have promised to invade two Tennessee towns with vile hatred and violence. The Nationalist Front is a loose network of white nationalist groups that were among those involved in the Aug. 12 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville and is made up of the National Socialist Movement, Traditionalist Worker Party, League of the South, Vanguard America, White Lives Matter and others. They are planning marches and rallies in Shelbyville and Murfreesboro, Tenn. on the weekend of Oct. 27-28.We can't know exactly how events will unfold. We do know that we are answering a call that carries with it great risks and we do not invite you to join us lightly. We ask that you discern your own calling, and if you are called to put your body on the line, join us with the knowledge that we don't know what will happen and with a commitment to follow the leadership of our collective as we discern and make decisions in the circumstances of the moments as they unfold. As people of faith, we are committed to nonviolent direct action, standing in solidarity with other residents of Tennessee and allies around the world. We want to grow forward in number and in narrative to visibly counteract this hate, proclaiming not only that God rejects white supremacy -- but, also that God is present with those who are hurt, angered, afraid and confused by this evil.If you would like more information about how you can participate with us, please email justice@mercyjunctioncenter.org or call 423.521.0642.Tennessee Women of Faith Collective,Jeannie AlexanderAlaina Kailyn CobbBeth Fosterרבקה בת שינהLala LeeDorsey Malina
